PASALUBONG! - BFA 2 FILM
In an airport mall, two friends who've formed a life-changing friendship spend their last day together before they part ways.
“Pasalubong” is a Filipino phrase referring to the gifts you give loved ones when returning from far away. Such as pasalubong is an exchange, in any relationship there exists an exchange of unspoken gifts between two people.
Telling this story about kids experiencing the fear of losing a friend for the first time, I was inspired by the relationships that define one’s life, addressing fears surrounding inevitable change and loss.  I wanted to make a film about beautiful goodbyes, an ode to old friendships, and a love letter to my culture that I see so rarely represented in cinema.
My second year film at CalArts. :)
